Denise and best friend, Donna, have been co-hosting a live, weekly LGBT internet radio show called “The Lesbian Lounge with Denise & Donna” for the past 7 years on http://www.MyLesbianRadio.com based out of South Florida, USA.
Recently, Denise married her long distance girlfriend, Jemma and moved to Surrey, England. The show continues to grow, and this past year (their 8th) it has now become a recorded podcast available only on iTunes and Podbean. No longer broadcasting live, the ladies record a “live version”, and send it up to iTunes & Podbean, leaving it unedited to include all the flubs, giggles, burps, and screw ups to keep the element of live talk radio there. They have kept the same format even with the distance between them but have added an international feel, featuring UK artists, celebs, authors, comedians & events to the roster now that Denise lives abroad. After 8 years of being on the internet, over 3 million downloads, and 10,000+ fans & friends on Facebook & Twitter, the ladies have a solid and loyal fan base.
“The Lesbian Lounge with Denise & Donna” features a bit of the girl’s personal lives, as they have a weekly rewind which usually includes a lot of food talk, some funny cat antidotes, their partner’s, and many “Mom” & family stories (their mother’s have become a beloved part of the show, per the fans). After their catch-up, which has been compared to eaves dropping on a phone call, they roll into news, gossip & hot topics, celebrity interviews, a spotlight on new music, read & answer fan mail, Denise’s pick for an internet pick: an LGBT business, website, blog or resource, a complete run down of monthly events & happenings in the US & the UK, and also a weekly segment where they interview their listeners in an effort to get to know them better on a personal level with a series of 7 hilarious questions. Always fresh, fast-paced & fun with good LGBT info peppered in.
Their interviews have included Jane Lynch (“Glee”), Sharon Gless (“Cagney & Lacey” and “Queer As Folk”), Melissa Etheridge, Mel B, Heather Peace, Ilene Chaiken, Daniela Sea, Janina Gavankar (exec prod, and actors from “The L Word”), Jill Bennett & Cathy DeBuono, Suzanne Westenhoefer (“We Have to Stop Now”), Jill Zarin and Daniellle Staub (“The Real Housewives of NYC and NJ” of Bravo TV), recording artists Taylor Dayne, Martha Wash, God-dess & She, Bitch, Sophie B. Hawkins and comedians Judy Gold, Julie Goldman, Kate Clinton, Fortune Feimster, Murray Hill, Dana Goldberg and Bridget McManus. Denise has been having a blast with her daily observations of life in London- as she says, “There is nothing like a displaced, large, American lesbian in London!”
